Shailene is an American actor as well as activist. Her fame was boosted by her performance as Alexandra King as a teen girl suffering from addiction - on The Descendants. Apart from the well-respected performance she delivered during The Descendants, Shailene has performed several roles which showed her ability to play difficult characters with ease. Shailene gained a prominent spot very early in her career in film. This is in itself an impressive feat. Her career began in commercials and TV before moving on to Hollywood movies. Because of her acting abilities, she has won many accolades, such as MTV Movie Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Teen Choice Awards.
